City of Peoria
University Street
(Pioneer Parkway to Townline Road) Phase I/II Design Services
Project Scope:
University Street is a minor urban arterial that extends north from Pioneer Parkway approximately 1 mile to Townline Road in Peoria. The project consisted of a complete reconstruction of a two-lane rural roadway to a 3-lane urban roadway with all new concrete pavement, curb & gutter, storm sewer, pipe underdrains, stormwater storage chambers, concrete driveways, multi-use path, lighting, and sidewalks.
The project utilized EDA, EDP, and MFT funding and was processed through IDOT District 4 Bureau of Local Roads.
Hermann & Associates was retained by the City of Peoria to complete the Phase I/II construction plans. Hermann & Associates and a subconsultant completed the construction plans for this $5.2 million project in less than six months. In addition to meeting a challenging schedule, Hermann & Associates designed a vertical alignment that eliminated the need for right-of-way acquisition, incorporated last-minute revisions to the proposed typical section, and designed a multi-use path on one side of the road and a sidewalk on the other side all within the limited right-of-way. H&A worked with city staff to address this project's many challenges while meeting a highly accelerated schedule.
